CLS II

A multi-module management system designed by Financial MicroSystems for accounting/legal/professional companies.

About CLS II

The Client Ledger System, otherwise known as CLS, is a client write up system that focuses on simplicity. This product will allow you to provide a great tax preparation service to your clients; and in-turn increase the profitability of your organization. Smaller organizations may want to try CLS ~ The Limited Edition. The limited edition product has many of the same features as CLS however it is available at a reduced cost and licensed to just one computer.

Client Write-Up

CLS provides unrivaled flexibility in reporting options for your clients. CLS includes a variety of reports (both standard and departmental) to help with your reporting needs. Some of these forms are:

  • Current and prior-year comparative Balance Sheets
  • Profit & Loss Statements
  • Cash Flow Statements (per FASB 95)
  • Statements of Changes in Financial Position
  • Statements of Changes in Equity.

This product also allows you to process preprinted W-2s and 1099s/1098s with laser and dot matrix printers. Additionally W-3 and 1096 transmittal forms can be printed with laser printers. A very unique feature of CLS is the ability for you to define a specially formatted Profit and Loss Statement. This specially formatted statement allows you to select columns from a list of 39 pre-defined column types. Columns may include current-period and year-to-date totals, prior-year history, budgets, ratios, percentages, variances, and percentage-variances.

CLS makes use of default values and reference numbers, and has the ability to memorize transaction descriptions, making transaction entry efficient and accurate. After transactions are entered, they are posted to the general ledger and payroll master files to update appropriate account and employee balances and complete the process of linking transactions to account and employee records. You also have the ability to print a Transaction Register, which lists all posted transactions for the current year or YTD if you desire. This allows you to print a Cash Receipts or Cash Disbursements Journal, and hence provide an audit trail.

Other CLS software packages can be easily integrated into CLS.

CLS - W-2/1099 Magnetic Media

The CLS ~ Magnetic Media program gives you the ability to file W-2 and 1099/1098 forms electronically to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). To do this a very simple and easy process, requiring minimal user input is done. First you must enter information about the transmitter of the magnetic media files (name, address of the person or organization). After that an intermediate file with employer and employee payroll information is created. CLS then gives you the flexibility to add or delete ledgers and edit employer and employee information. Editing the intermediate file does not at all affect any of the CLS payroll data. CLS can create one or more magnetic media files for submission; and once the files have been created, you may print disk labels and transmittal forms if needed. Additionally, you may list all information in the files, and print said list for your records.

General Ledger

CLS - General Ledger provides a complete set of financial statements and other supporting reports, all of which are essential to ensure accuracy in your bookkeeping operations and departments. This product is licensed for one computer and up to thirty (30) ledgers. Files created in the general ledger can then be exported into CLS or imported from CLS - Checkwriter

Payroll

The presence of a fully integrated after-the-fact payroll, allows you to electronically store and track complete employee and vendor records. Additionally, the ability for you to choose either an eight or 16-column payroll journal gives you even more flexibility. Reports included in the payroll application of CLS are: an employee list sorted by employee number, last name, social security number or an optional sort key; and an employee missing-information report.
