Features

Fast and user-friendly statement set up and modification. Vivid Reports works with the account structure and segments as defined in your accounting system’s chart of accounts. Vivid Reports supports drag-and-drop from your chart of accounts and segment lists making it a snap to define your reports. You can quickly build reports and statements and then filter your information across any of your segments. You can easily combine and consolidate statements and then drill back through your reports right to the transaction level. Unlike other reporting systems Vivid Reports lets you change and select statements and filters directly from Excel. This gives you real time access to your information and how you want to view it without having to jump to other programs.

When you are defining your reports you can perform statement verification tests to show accounts that are omitted and accounts that may have been accidentally included more than once. With these two tests you can be confident that your statements are accurate. Subtotals are defined right on the report in Excel using Excel’s sum or subtotal functions. It couldn’t be any easier than this. This eliminates the need to constantly maintain and check sub-total lines when new lines are added.

The column filters you define can be any combination of segment values, plus the fiscal year, data type (actual, budget, statistical, etc), period type (YTD, Change, Quarter, Half, Open), and accounting period. There are no limitations on how you can filter your General Ledger. You can then define additional calculation columns such as variances, percent of sales, dollars per item sold, etc. using Excel’s built in functions. Take advantage of all of Excel’s powerful features from formatting to charting capabilities since this is the reporting environment. You control what you want to see using Vivid Reports filter control that allows you to instantly apply different filters and enable rapid transition from one report, business unit, or filter to another. Only the Vivid Reports cells are updated from your database allowing your Excel functions to recalculate on the newly generated information.

Vivid Reports allows you to control when you synchronize with your accounting system. You can therefore continue to post entries to your system while you analyze a static ‘snapshot’ of your accounting information at the date and time of the last synchronization. This can be accomplished because Vivid Reports has its own database that is separate from your account system and this also improves reporting performance.

Several analysis features exist in Vivid Reports. You can instantly compare any two columns on your report and find rows with variance exceeding thresholds limits that you specify. You can then select another filter to view a different business unit and instantly apply the same analysis to that statement. Vivid Reports will find the variances for you and you can click on those lines to drill-down right to the underlying transactions. The drill- down capability is amazing and it uses the same statement specifications already defined to find the underlying information without any extra set up required by the user. Sort your drill-down results any way you like or send them to another Excel workbook for further analysis, printing or e-mail. Vivid Reports offers many ways to analyze and drill into your information. You have the ability to drill both down and across transactions to other areas of your accounting system such as accounts receivable or accounts payable ledgers. Vivid Reports contains an account query tool that lets you query your accounting information by any dimension and send the results to Excel.

Supports multiple currencies and will store separate conversion rates for each data type (actual, budget), fiscal year, period, and account range that you define. Will also convert using balance sheet or income statement methods.

You can restrict the account ranges and segments that each user can access and view. This lets you deploy Vivid Reports to anyone in your organization who needs access to the General Ledger information and reports while giving you full control over what each person is allowed to see. Each user will be required to log into Vivid Reports to connect to the server before they can refresh the information or drill-down.

Vivid Reports is completely web enabled. You can access your financial information over the Internet and this allows you to easily distribute and access reports from anywhere within your organization. (You need to enable IIS and should have a VPN to encrypt and secure any connections being made over the Internet).
